Turkey Cheesesteak Skillet + Jalapeno Cheddar Sauce

Shaking up tradition from Philly Cheesesteak to Ground Turkey Skillet with this fun and delicious recipe! My husband (who is not currently keto-ing) said he wanted it served in a giant hoagie roll.. food for thought. 

What You’ll Need:

-olive oil

-1.5# ground turkey

-1 teaspoon salt

-1 teaspoon ground pepper

-1 teaspoon paprika

-1 teaspoon onion powder

-1 teaspoon garlic powder

-1 teaspoon dried thyme

-3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

-1 small yellow onion, sliced

-1 cup sweet peppers, sliced

-2 cups green peppers, sliced

-8 ounces baby bella mushrooms, sliced

-shredded mozzarella

Method:

-Swirl olive oil in cast iron over medium heat - add turkey. 

-Add in salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, dried thyme, and worcestershire sauce - cook until cooked through.

-Remove meat from pan, keeping all juices.

-Swirl olive oil (adding to existing juices), add in onions and sprinkle a bit of salt. Cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.

-Add sweet and green peppers, cook another 5-8 minutes

-Add mushrooms and mix, cooking about 4-6 minutes

-Mix veggies well, watching as juices evaporate and veggies start to caramelize. Keep cooking until vegetables start to gain some color and are cooked through. This depends on temperature, so stir often and just watch them - it will probably take about 10-15 minutes.

-Return meat to cast iron with veggies, stir in about a half to one cup of the Jalapeño Cheddar Sauce and mix well.

-Turn heat off.

-Add shredded mozzarella to top of dish and broil in oven until bubbly and golden!

-Once dish has had a few minutes to cool from the broiler, pour Jalapeño Cheddar Sauce on the top (as much as you desire!)

-Serve in bowl, or inside a toasty hoagie roll!
